Challenge:
Al-Yarmouk University sought to expand its central library facilities, addressing the need for an advanced educational environment that could accommodate a growing number of students and resources. The challenge lay in designing a structure that would harmoniously integrate with the existing library and provide modern, technologically equipped spaces.
Approach:
The design embraced a forward-thinking educational ethos by incorporating state-of-the-art information technologies, including resources for bibliographical, audiovisual, and electronic data. The architectural plan linked the extension seamlessly to the original library, creating a cohesive academic hub. Thoughtful spatial organization ensured a balance of lecture halls, exhibition spaces, seminar rooms, administrative offices, and specialized technical service areas. The result was a facility capable of supporting 3,000 seats and housing up to 600,000 volumes.
