Challenge
The challenge for the National Consultative Council was to create a design that embodied the cultural identity and heritage of the United Arab Emirates while reflecting the city of Abu Dhabi’s modern evolution. The design needed to symbolize progress and tradition, bridging the gap between the country’s rich architectural history and its vision for the future. The project also aimed to represent the values of the local community, highlighting the Emirate's transformation while maintaining a connection to its roots.
Approach
The design proposal sought to honor Abu Dhabi’s architectural evolution and emphasize its cultural significance:
Cultural Resonance: Drawing inspiration from the Huson Palace, an architectural symbol of the city, the design reflects the continuing evolution of Abu Dhabi while maintaining its cultural identity.
Contemporary Heritage: The design incorporates modern elements that represent the dynamic progress of the UAE, while ensuring that the heritage and legacy of the region are embedded in the architectural language.
Community Representation: The National Consultative Council was conceived as a space that symbolizes the culture and identity of Abu Dhabi, serving as both a functional and iconic institution in the city.
Impact
The design for the National Consultative Council brings together the past and future of Abu Dhabi, offering a timeless architectural presence that reflects both the city’s heritage and its aspirations. This project will serve as a symbol of the continued growth of the UAE, while fostering community engagement and a sense of pride for the people of Abu Dhabi. Through its architectural composition, the design captures the spirit of tradition and innovation, reinforcing the country’s vision of progress without losing sight of its rich cultural history.
