Challenge:
The Hatahet Residence was envisioned as a harmonious blend of traditional Syrian architectural influences and modern living requirements. The challenge lay in preserving cultural identity while introducing contemporary spatial arrangements that would suit the evolving lifestyle of its residents. Additionally, the home needed to integrate a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring a fluid yet private residential experience.

Approach:
Designed by Dar Al Omran - Rasem Badran (DAO-Badran), the residence adopted a cubist modernist exterior, reflecting a clean, geometric architectural language. At its core, the design centered around three interconnected courtyards, serving as the focal point of the home, inspired by the historic houses of Jabal Amman. These courtyards not only enhanced natural ventilation and lighting but also established a strong synergy between enclosed and open spaces, reinforcing a traditional yet contemporary spatial experience. The interplay of elegant lines, simple forms, and shaded outdoor areas ensured that the residence remained culturally resonant while embracing the modernist aesthetic of the time.

Impact:
The Hatahet Residence stands as a timeless architectural statement, successfully merging traditional Syrian influences with modern residential design. Through its courtyards, spatial organization, and refined materiality, the project fosters a deep connection between heritage and contemporary living. This residence remains a notable example of how vernacular traditions can be reinterpreted within a modern urban setting, reinforcing Dar Al Omran - Rasem Badran’s commitment to architectural authenticity and innovative residential solutions in Amman.
