Challenge:
The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) required a modern and highly functional office space that could accommodate multiple organizations, fostering collaboration, flexibility, and efficiency. The challenge was to create a dynamic workspace that supports various working styles while maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the design needed to align with the organization's commitment to health and well-being, integrating elements that enhance productivity and employee wellness.

Approach:
Dar Al Omran - Rasem Badran (DAO-Badran) applied a forward-thinking office design strategy, ensuring that the interior spaces were flexible, adaptive, and conducive to a modern work environment. The ground floor was designed as a vibrant public gathering point, welcoming visitors, trainees, and part-time employees into an open and multifunctional space. This level incorporates flexible work settings and multi-purpose halls, reinforcing a culture of collaboration and innovation.

At the heart of the design, the cafeteria was conceived as more than just a dining area—it serves as a social hub for SCHS employees, fostering interaction and engagement beyond workspaces. The upper floors introduced an innovative circular route around the building’s floor plan, creating a continuous flow of movement while enhancing spatial openness and connectivity. This circulation route also functions as a walking track, allowing employees to engage in light physical activity during calls or virtual meetings, reinforcing SCHS’s commitment to workplace wellness and employee productivity.

Impact:
The Saudi Health Specialties headquarters redefines the modern workplace, integrating flexibility, health-conscious design, and spatial efficiency. Through its strategic planning and contemporary interior design approach, the project promotes a balanced and engaging work environment that enhances employee well-being and productivity. By merging engineering innovation with thoughtful space utilization, the design establishes a benchmark for future office environments, supporting SCHS’s vision for a dynamic and health-oriented workspace.
